Woodford County High School was looking for three people who had the drive to make a positive contribution to the school and serve on the governing body. They decided to look to their alumni network to recruit new governors. After 32 former students expressed an interest in becoming a Governor, the school appointed three former students to the governing board.
Headteacher, Jo Pomeroy, said ‘ Three former students have immediately become active members of the Governing Body. Another Future First success story.’
Former students with the right skills and experience could be well placed to either sit on a governing body or on a committee of associate governors of their former school. Future First has partnered with SGOSS who are experts in school and college governance and will be able to liaise directly with the clerk or chair should a vacancy become available.
