Future First appoints Chief Operating Officer

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Katie Glass as Future First’s new Chief Operating Officer.

Katie joins from the Department for Education, where she has occupied various roles, including overseeing remote education strategy during Covid, and leading the future plan for Oak National Academy, the Government’s flagship digital education tool.

Beyond her work in the Civil Service, Katie has had a varied career in local government, charities and universities. The thread pulling her roles together has been a drive to improve social mobility and social justice – something she became passionate about whilst completing her degree in Politics, and then Master’s in Human Rights.

Working at Teach First, Katie managed the programme and partnerships in London, improving the quality of training for hundreds of teachers working in schools serving disadvantaged communities. At Camden Council, she oversaw a major change activity, including developing and overseeing the delivery of its £40m Medium Term Financial Strategy.

In her role at Future First, Katie will lead on further developing the Future First Hub – a bespoke networking platform providing state schools and pupils with connections to past students and volunteers signed up to help them. Among her responsibilities, she will manage all the support services and lead on embedding the voices of young people and schools into the development of the charity’s work.
